NLMK relaunches galvanizing line at US plant Sharon Coating
MOSCOW, Feb 6 (PRIME) -- NLMK USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), has relaunched a second hot-dip galvanizing line at its plant Sharon Coating, NLMK said in a statement on Monday.
“The line, which is located at Sharon Coating in Pennsylvania, has a capacity of approximately 226,000 tonnes per year. With the re-launch of the second line, Sharon Coating’s effective capacity increased by 43% driven by growing demand in the U.S.,” the statement read.
One hot-dip galvanizing line, with a capacity of 521,000 tonnes per year, is currently running at Sharon Coating. The second line was idled in 2012, due to weak demand for galvanized steel on the U.S. market, the company added.
“We are seeing demand increase in the U.S. market, driven by the pick-up in activity in the automotive and construction sectors, and trade measures introduced to protect the U.S. market from unfairly traded imports,” the company said citing NLMK U.S. CEO Bob Miller.
